Boxing News 2014: Algieri Takes ALC Ice Bucket Challenge, Dares Pacquiao
From corporate executive such as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to singer Justin Timberlake, the ALC ice bucket challenge has moved to professional athletes such as footballer Cristiano Ronaldo who wowed the world because he did the challenge wearing only skimpy skivvies.

The dare has moved to boxers, with WBO junior lightweight champion Chris Algieri the latest to take an icy douse on the head. As part of the challenge, the one who successfully accepted the challenge could nominate another person, who has the choice of an ice-cold shower from a bucket or to donate to the Amyitrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association in the US.
Aligieri, through an Instagram video, dared his Nov 22 opponent in the ring, eight-division title holder Manny Pacquiao, to take the Ice Challenge, which aims to raise awareness for the ailment, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. It is a progressive neurodegenerative condition that affects the brain and spinal cord, affecting about 30,000 Americans.

As of Aug 18, the challenge has raised $15.6 million.

Pacquiao, who will face Algieri in Macau, has yet to issue any statement about Algieri's dare. He probably is busy promoting his upcoming TV show over GMA-7, the Philippine edition of Sports Science.
