Boxing News 2014: Mayweather 8-1 Favourite To Win Saturday Rematch Versus Maidana; Experts Foresee Unanimous Decision If Money May Would Up His Game
Unbeaten American boxer Floyd Mayweather is in the headlines again, not for beating another fellow boxer but for allegedly battering his former fiancé Shantel Jackson. The dailies are full of details on how Money May used his brute strength on women who are surely helpless against 37-year-old professional athlete.

If the accusations of Jackson and two other women are true then there is no doubt that Mayweather could face another jail term instead of retirement from the ring.
However, on Saturday night, Sept 13, Mayweather could unleash all his brute force without fear of facing another lawsuit because his opponent is Argentinean boxer Marcos Maidana in their anticipated rematch after a controversial May bout that didn't result in a unanimous decision in favour of Mayweather.
Yet, despite the cut that Maidana made on Mayweather's eyebrow then and the public perception that he threatened to give Money May the latter's first loss, Mayweather remains bettors' favourite to win 8-1.

Badlefthook reports that Bovada listed Mayweather an 8-to-1 favourite (-800) to win the rematch, slightly improved from the -750 when it opened in July. However, it is a decline from -1,100 Mayweather got one week before their first match wherein the judges rendered only a majority decision, not a unanimous decision, in his favour.
Bovada has a +500 line for Maidana to create an upset, which is slightly better than the +475 he got several months ago when he first tried a crack at Mayweather. Badlefthook noted that Mayweather's being favourite has lost some sheen, the numbers also indicate that Maidana is starting to move away from his underdog image.
Meanwhile, in Bleacherreport's analysis of Game 1, the Web site noted that while boxing fans are aware of and had witnessed Mayweather's best performance, "he was nowhere near that level in May." It predicted, "If he makes even the slightest improvements in the rematch, then another victory is pretty much guaranteed."
It added that Money May's awareness that he isn't bullet-proof would push the boxer to "enter the fight determined and hungry," which would likely result in Mayweather enjoying a clear triumph via unanimous decision.
