Two fights away from retiring from professional boxing with a potential 49-0 record, unbeaten American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr is facing a probe from the Nevada State Athletic Commission which ordered him to explain. The commission will question him over scenes shown over Showtime network before his Sept 13 rematch against Argentinean boxer Marcos Maidana.

One scene involves the use of marijuana in the boxer's mansion, while the second scene over two long bouts in his gym where the boxers are not allowed a rest break.

The footage showed some women rolling marijuana joints in Mayweather's house. While the boxer did not smoke the cannabis joint, he told an assistant to purchase more rolling papers for the women.

The other footage was that of two boxers at Mayweather's gym who fought for 31 minutes with no break. According to Money May's explanation shown on TV in the All Access show, the fighters are supposed to keep on boxing until one of them quits, which is a throwback to how boxers fought about 100 years ago.

"We all know TV is drama but our main responsibility in the health and safety of fighters ... I want to ensure that what they're doing is in the best interest of fighters," said Francisco Aguilar, head of the commission, quoted by The Sydney Morning Herald.

However, Aguilar stressed that "Before we draw a conclusion about what we saw on TV we want to make sure we have all the information."

Mayweather is scheduled to show at the commission on Tuesday in his role as boxer and promoter. He was given by the commission a license in early 2014 as promoter. Mayweather is also the executive producer of All Access.

Even before his rematch with Maidana, Mayweather also became controversial because of his remarks about the two-game suspension of Ray Rice in NFL over Rice's hitting his fiancée in an elevator, while the boxer himself is facing a lawsuit over domestic violence filed by his ex-fiance Shantel Jackson.

His unanimous decision won over Maidana is also being questioned by some boxing observers, including Manny Pacquiao, who was quoted by Badlefthook as saying, "To me, Maidana won that fight. Mayweather's face and lips were swelling compared to Maidana's unblemished face."
