In the bout to be held at the Cotai Arena in The Venetian Hotel at Macau, Pacquiao foresees himself knocking out Algieri in the sixth round. It was in 2009 when the Filipino boxer last had a knockout win over Miguel Cotto.

The congressman said, quoted by Tempo, "We are scheduled to fight for 12 rounds but that's just too long. Six rounds (or less) will be enough."

Pacquiao is fighting at 144 pounds instead of 147 in preparation for his move to the lower weight class of junior welterweight where he would have the opportunity to select from a wider range of opponents for his remaining fights before he retires from professional boxing. The field includes a rematch with Algieri, and newer boxers such as Ruslan Provodnikov, Terence Crawford, Raymundo Belran, Mikey Garcia and Jessie Vargas.

To prepare for his date on the ring with Algieri, Pacquiao is training at his gym in General Santos City, sparring with junior welterweight Stan Martyniouk and welterweight Mike Jones. Viktor Postol, an unbeaten Russian pugilist, will be the third sparring partner when he flies in next week.

However, Algieri is confident he could beat the southpaw boxer.
