The Pacquiao-Mayweather dream match is dead. Besides the denial from Floyd Mayweather Jr, who even threatened to remove his father from the Money Team for confirming the bout, coach Freddie Roach announced on Wednesday that Manny Pacquiao would move back to the junior welterweight division.

The Filipino champ's bout against Chris Algieri on Nov 22 in Macau would be his last in the welterweight division, which is also Mayweather's weight class.

"I just think it's much better for Manny to fight at 140. He's much more productive at that weight. It's much more natural for him to fight at that weight," Roach said at the Pacman Wildcard Gym in General Santos City, quoted by Rappler.

His bout with Algieri is Pacquiao's first defense of his WBO welterweight belt. It has a catchweight of 144 pounds that would test the performance of the southpaw at a lower weight before the eight-division title holder moves down to 140 pounds.

Roach said the move could result in knockouts by Pacquiao, while opening the possibility of more interesting bouts such as with Danny Garcia, who said he would stick to 140 pounds.

Roach stressed that while Pacquiao is not a big puncher at 147, the Filipino champ has not lost his punch or killer instinct but has been battling bigger and stronger boxers. He believes that other boxers, who are moving to 147 for an opportunity to fight Pacquiao and earn bigger purse, would return to 140.

"He's not a 147-pounder, he only forced himself to be a 147-pounder because that's where the money was but I think he's going to be a much more effective fighter at 140. I don't care who is there, we'll beat them all," Roach added.

The last time that Pacquiao fought at 140 pounds was in 2009 when he KO'ed Ricky Hatton in just two rounds. Here's a look back at that epic fight.
