The "when" has been settled after Mayweather Promotions Chief Executive Leonard Ellerbe announced on Tuesday that Floyd Mayweather's next fight would be on Sept 13.

However, the "where" and the "who" remain unidentified, although based on recent statements, the Sept 13 would automatically remove British boxer Amir Khan from the list because he would participate in the Muslim rite of Ramadan, which involves fasting from sunrise to sunset.

Khan was originally Money May's foe for the May 3 bout, but despite winning an online poll, Mayweather picked Argentinean boxer Marcos Maidana who gave the unbeaten American pugilist a good fight and a cut on the right eye.

Khan slid down as one of the three undercard fights on May 3, beating Luis Collazo.

Ellerbe said that Mayweather would not move the fight date to accommodate Khan; rather, it is the British boxer who should change his schedule if he wants to meet Money May in the ring.

Ellerbe also said that while MGM Grand is the leading candidate where to hold Mayweather's Sept 13 bout since the boxer lives in Las Vegas, Mayweather is open to other venues such as the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York which made a generous offer to be the venue of the May 3 fight.

The promoter added that Mayweather has not closed his door to a rematch with Maidana even if the former considers the Argentinean boxer as a very dirty fighter because "Floyd handled him easily and he gave the fans a great fight."

Ellerbe named boxers Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter and Keith Thurman as other potential candidates, but Manny Pacquiao is apparently not on the short list. Mayweather had previously said he is not interested in pursuing the Dream Match anymore because of his belief that the Filipino congressman, who previously rejected his two conditions, only wants to battle it out with him to raise money to settle his tax problems with the Philippine government.

Mayweather also refuses to deal with Pacquiao's promoter Top Rank.
