Statements from the camp of unbeaten American boxer Floyd Mayweather indicated that the dream match has big chances of happening in 2015.

Stephen Espinoza, the vice president of Showtime, said Manny Pacquiao is his definite first choice to be Mayweather's opponent in his next fight slated in May 2015, the second to the last fight of Money May before he retires from professional boxing.

He said, quoted by LA Times, "In terms of the actual substance of discussions, it hasn't progressed to anything that's worth commenting on ... But if you're saying, at this stage of their careers - with the finish line in sight - is there maybe more psychological pressure or interest to get that one fight out of the way that's always eluded you? Absolutely."

He said public interest in Mayweather's and Pacquiao's fights, based on pay-per-view buys have dipped because boxing fans are still clamouring for the dream match.

Espinoza, former lawyer for Golden Boy Promotions who tried to help arrange the fight in 2009, said he never doubted Mayweather's interest in the fight with Pacquiao, but he acknowledges that "there's another guy on the other side with an ego and a championship history as well."

He believes pride from both camps has stood in the way in attempts to push through with the bout, thus, "People are going to need to swallow a little pride to get this thing done."

Mayweather, just before he had a rematch with Marcos Maidana on Saturday, had previously set as a condition for the dream match that Pacquiao must sign up with Mayweather Promotions. On Monday, he changed the condition that the Filipino champ must fight on Showtime PPV only and his promotions company handling the fight, easing Top Rank Promotions where Pacquiao has a contract due to Money May's differences with Bob Arum, boss of Top Rank.

In his post-fight conference, Mayweather stated, "At the moment I want to go home, have a break, spend some time with my children and then see who's next in May. Hopefully it's Manny Pacquiao."

In between though, Mayweather would likely be attending court hearings over the lawsuit filed by ex-fiance Shantel Jackson as well as deal with his current flame Doralee "Bad" Medina.
