While the focus of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather now are the promotion of their bouts against Chris Algieri and Marcos Maidana on Nov 23 and Sept 13, respectively, the Filipino champ's joke about Money May would surely ignite some fire from their respective camps.

Pacquiao, who was promoting his fight versus Algieri, was asked by media on Tuesday in Macau about speculations that he and Mayweather would finally meet in the ring in May 2013, possibly in Dubai. The congressman and now playing basketball coach quipped: "Who's that?"

Boxing observers say that since both boxers are now in their mid- to late-30s, unless the dream match takes place soon, it may be too late if they further postpone their ring date since the public would no longer be interested in watching two doddering boxers past their prime still slugging each other.

As a follow-up response to the provocative question thrown to Pacquiao, Freddie Roach, his coach, replied, quoted by AFP, "We can't waste our time waiting for him [Mayweather]. We've done everything we could to make that fight happen. It's like, we're available if he's interested in it, but again we can't sit around waiting for him."

Pacquiao's joke may ignite a nasty reply from Mayweather's camp since the unbeaten American boxer has been quite testy lately, especially with nasty criticisms from detractors about Money May's lack of education. They cite in particular his difficulty in reading simple English from teleprompters.

In response to the teasing, Mayweather waved two cheques worth $72 million, which represents his purse for his last two fights against Maidana and Saul Alvarez. His act says in so many words, "So what? I have oodles of money most of you only dream of."

Meanwhile, here's a peek at the Macau leg of the Pacquiao-Aligieri promo tour.
