Australian ring gladiator Michael Katsidis will be fighting his final boxing bout in his hometown of Toowoomba, Australia, Major sports media site ESPN reported on Saturday.

Katsidis, who will turn 33 years old this month, is expected to be back in the ring against a still unknown opponent in what will be his farewell fight. The Australian boxing legend hasn't fought since his unanimous decision loss to Albert Mensah of Ghana in 2012, and there were reports that he was not in good shape.

But the latest announcement coming from Katsidis' camp suggests he's in tip-top shape and ready to put on a show before the home crowd for the first time since his first round TKO victory over Guillermo Mosquera in 2006.

"I'm clear to fight. My health is a No. 1 priority. I've got a little daughter now," Katsidis told the Chronicle Newspaper via ESPN. "I'm in the transition period of my career now as I begin moving into the business world, but I want to give back something to Toowoomba and my fans."

"I want to fight again and go out on my terms. This is where I want to have my send-off. I believe I've achieved everything I can in boxing but I just want to fight again," said Katsidis, who have engaged in several brutal fights throughout his career, including his slugfest against Graham Earl, Czar Almonsot , Joel Casamayor, and Juan Manuel Marquez.
