Manny Pacquiao has commented about Floyd Mayweather's claims that he is desperate to fight him because of his tax case.

During Mayweather's visit to South Africa, he took another jab at his foe once again. The undefeated boxer stated that Pacquiao's longing to fight him arose out of despair after the Filipino's consecutive losses to Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012 as well as his tax problems.

"Manny Pacquiao, all of a sudden loses to Timothy Bradley, he loses to Marquez which is a guy that I have beaten," said Mayweather. "He has tax problems now so you know two losses and tax problems later he all of a sudden wanna say, 'You know what, I'd do anything to make the fight happen' when he's really saying, 'Floyd, can you help me solve my tax problems and get me out of debt," said Mayweather.

Pacquiao answered Mayweather claims that he was desperate to fight the 36-year-old boxer from Grand Rapids. The Filipino boxer said that he has nothing to prove in the world of boxing. "There's no reason why I should be desperate to fight him," Pacquiao told Inquirer. Pacquiao said that the demands of the boxing fans all over the world for him to fight Mayweather is the only reason why he is welcoming the idea of such mega-fight. "I don't want to disappoint them," said Pacquiao.

As for Pacquiao's tax case, he said that his lawyers are taking care of it. He stated that he is paying his tariffs religiously and he is trying to straighten out his tax records in his hometown and overseas. "Should there be any discrepancy, rest assured, I will settle it," he said. "I'm a lawmaker and I'm a law-abiding citizen.

Pacquiao's next scheduled fight is on April 12, and by the looks of it, his next opponent surely wouldn't be Mayweather. The undefeated boxer, on the other hand, only named British boxer Amir Khan and Argentinian Marcos Maidana as contenders for his May 3 fight but refused to divulge who his next opponent really is. Mayweather said it'll be revealed in a week's time.
