Floyd Mayweather is known for his ring savvy but he can also has another talent according to Showtime Sports executive vice president and general manager Stephen Espinoza and that of being a boxing commentator if the American wants to try that kind of career when he’s done with the sport.

“I think he’s got a pretty distinguished career ahead of him as a boxing commentator should he be interested,” Espinoza said in a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal.

Espinoza was one of the key persons during the Mayweather negotiations with Manny Pacquiao and the channel who owns the rights to his fights, HBO Sports. The big bout between Mayweather and Pacquiao was finalised in February and Espinoza was one of the active officials who updated fight fans about the development of the fight.

Espinoza claims that Mayweather has the skills outside the boxing ring and can be a great boxing commentator aside from him running Mayweather Promotions, which already has a growing stable of prospect fighters which include Mickey Bey Jr. in the lightweight division, Ashley Theophane and Ladarius Miller in the welterweight division and Ishe Smith and Chris Pearson in the light middleweight division.

In the same interview, Espinoza stated that after Mayweather retires from the sport of boxing, the American will focus more on the promotion company and that he’d be successful in this venture.

If Mayweather decides to become a boxing commentator, he would join the likes of former boxing champions Roy Jones Jr., Antonio Tarver, Paulie Malignaggi, Bobby Czyz, George Foreman, Lennox Lewis and Andre Ward as the former boxers who became successful boxing analysts and commentators.

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are both in their training camps preparing for the big bout set on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
