Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Kids Made Public Appearance after Mastectomy in World War Z Premiere
After her much discussed and inspirational public revelation of her double mastectomy, Angelina Jolie made her first public appearance on Sunday as she supports partner Brad Pitt on the red carpet London premiere of his movie World War Z, Reuters reported.
During the red carpet of Brad Pitt's zombie movie entitled World War Z, Angelina talked about partner Brad as being "a wonderful man and a wonderful father."
Graciously in her long, black, backless dress made by Yves Saint Laurent, Angelina told press that she is very grateful for the over pouring support she got when she announced her double mastectomy. "I have been very happy just to see the discussion of women's health expanded and that means world to me. After losing my mom to these issues, I am very grateful for it.
Her mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, 56, has died from ovarian cancer in 2007 and just recently, her aunt, Debbie martin, 61, also died of breast cancer.
Angelina Jolie chose to hide away from the public and the press following her personally written letter in New York Times op-ed column revealing her discreet mastectomy operation. It is to be remembered that the letter revealed her ordeal of the breast-removal surgery while still attending to her humanitarian responsibilities. All this on top of not missing out in nurturing her kids and not taking her partner's love taken for granted.
She was highly praised for being able to instill awareness to women about preventive measures against breast cancer. According to recent reports, Ms. Jolie had also decided to undergo a surgery once again. This time, to remove her ovaries because the BRCA1 gene she inherited from her mother gave her 50 per cent chance of developing ovarian cancer.
Meanwhile, during the premiere, Brad Pitt told reporters that he is very proud of Angelina for deciding to have a double mastectomy in full consideration of their family and that she later disclosed the experience for the benefit of the women and their families.
Pitt told reporters, "When she's faced with a problem - and we have known this was coming for sometime - she takes it by the horns. I'm super proud of her. She's a bad ass."
He also told press that being with her during his film's premiere is really important to him. "It's more fun to do these things with each other. More fun when she's around and same for her."
Pitt shared that it was his sons', Maddox and Pax, penchant for the book that inspired him to make the movie, "The boys love a zombie."
The film, World War Z, is Pitt's first venture as a franchise producer. Pitt's production company, Plan B Entertainment acquired the rights of the novel way back six years ago. The movie was reportedly one of the big box offices offering this summer, although, higher expectations were set for the films.
Reports said that the film was supposedly released in the last quarter of 2012 but it has to be postponed due to a budget setback of $200 million. This had also caused Pitt to be at odds with director Marc Foster.
In the movie, Pitts plays as Gerry Lane, a United Nations representative whose main objective was to stop a zombie pandemic that is paralyzing armies and government efforts to protect mankind from the zombie destruction.
