Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie to Reunite on Screen in Malta, Independent Film Written by Angie to Brad
After their box office hit "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" in 2005, power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are set to reunite on screen for the second time around after playing husband and wife in the action/comedy film. Set in the amazing and exotic island of Gozo in Malta, the independent film is allegedly written by the "Maleficent" star for her and husband Brad, and plans to start shooting at the end of August.
Not a sequel to their 2005 film, the upcoming movie is reportedly a "love story" and could be the independent film Angie was talking about on her previous interview with Extra. "It's not a big movie, it's not an action movie," said the 39-year-old mother of six. "It's the kind of movie we love but aren't often cast in," she added. "It's a very experimental, independent-type film where we get to be actors together and be really raw, open, try things."
The couple first fell in love with the country when Brad filmed "World War Z" back in 2011 and second time around is when they were scouting for a perfect location for their new project. The good is it's not just them who loved the country but also their six children who grew acquainted with the European country.
"I'm happy that Hollywood producers have once again chosen Malta for their project and we will be delighted to host Mr. Pitt, Ms. Jolie and their family for the second time in three years," confirmed by Malta's Prime Minister Joseph Muscat in an interview posted on PEOPLE. "I'm sure that this film will help put our beautiful sister island of Gozo on the world map."
Before confirming for their location, the A-list couple were spotted scouting for locations in the country and after eight weeks of looking around they found a beautiful spot near the sea. "Mgarr is-Xini will be closed for some days for the filming of an Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt blockbuster," PM Muscat announcement posted on Times of Malta.
The information about Jolie-Pitt's new project is very limited and still not clear whether the Oscar-winning actress will direct the untitled film. The "Tomb Rider" star made her directorial debut with the award-winning "In the Land of Blood and Honey" in 2011 and second world war survival drama "Unbroken," which is scheduled to be released in December.
Pitt's recent producing project in "12 Years A Slave" earned him an Oscar award for Best Picture earlier this year. So with two of them combined in one film, fans could expect high-quality performance in a non-traditional film.
