An overzealous fan attempted to close to Brad Pitt and his son in Sydney, prompting the A-list star’s security team to take action. Police were called immediately after the incident.

The 49-year-old actor was in Australia to promote his new sci-fi film “World War Z.” He was leaving the InterContinental Hotel with his son, 9-year-old Pax, on Tuesday when they were confronted by a man named Michael Joseph in the hotel’s underground car park.

Brad’s minders quickly tackled the fan, and police were called to the scene.

“It was ascertained that although being an enclosed public space, the car park was controlled land under the control of the hotel,” a police spokesperson told the Sydney Daily Telegraph. “The man was issued with a move-on order following the incident.”

Brad did not press charges against the man. He flew out of the country the same day.

But before leaving Down Under, though, he had appeared at the Network Ten’s “The Project,” wherein the presenters had cajoled him to try vegemite.

Although he said that he had heard of Australians’ favourite spread before, he had never tried one. So when he was handed a personalised jar of vegemite, he unhesitatingly dipped his finger to taste it.

“I could see how that would work on a cracker or bread,” he said, looking like he was bravely trying to hide his shock from the taste.

He added, “Can I get a beer with that?”

The interview was set on a boat, giving Brad a view of the Sydney Opera House, which he described as a building that is “legendary for its story of greatness versus mediocrity.”

Brad also revealed that his eldest son Maddox (11) had a cameo in his film.

“Mad plays one of the zombies who got shot in the head,” he laughed, adding, “Really good parenting on my part.”

He also said that it was Maddox’s choice to play a zombie, and that he thought his son was “ready to step it up, but we put him through makeup and he was already complaining.”

As for Angelina Jolie, her fiancée and the mother of her six children, Brad said, “She’s great. She’s good as gold. It’s upwards and onwards.”

Angie underwent double mastectomy earlier this year to decrease her chances of getting breast cancer. She revealed her medical choice in an op-ed on the New York Times last month, saying Brad was with her every step of the way.

“For me it just doesn’t work without a mum. So the fact that I would have to explain that to my kids, that’s just a nightmare. So it’s just a huge relief. It’s heroic, it’s all that. And she looks sexy, too,” he said.

“World War Z” opens in Australia on June 20.
