The incident killed 11 workers and cause the worst environmental disaster in American history. The release of "If God is Willing and Da Creek Don't Rise" coincides with the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina which in 2005,caused wide-spread devastation in New Orleans where Make it Right, a project with which Pitt is involved, is building 150 homes. The documentary is directed by the controversial filmmaker Spike Lee. It premieres in the US on Tuesday night.
