The Oscar-nominated actor has gathered the help of Rihanna, his friend Kanye and other celebrities for a charity gala to benefit the Make It Right Foundation for a post hurricane Katrina cause.

The gala took place at the Hyatt Regency on Saturday which aims to rebuild the state's Lower 9th Ward. The charity event was hosted by Pitt, Ellen DeGeneres and Saint's quarterback Drew Brees hosted the music portion of the gala.

Other celebrities included for the event are Snoop Dogg, Sheryl Crow, Kevin Spacey, Sean Penn, Blake Lively, Spike Lee, Bennett Miller, Chris and Jada Paul and Randy Jackson.

Rihanna took the stage at the main show and performed "We Found Love" wearing a shimmering gown. While Kanye West performed Jay Z's 2009 hit "Run This Town" and was accompanied by Jamie Foxx when he sang his 2005 hit single "Good Digger."

But the event didn't stop there, the actor also arranged an after party which was hosted by comedian Aziz Ansari while Snoop Doggs, Sheryl Crow and Seal were among those who performed.

Guest for the event paid between $1000 and $2500 for the main event and $150 for the after party.

"Even though these people don't like me that much, it really was simple. They carved this time out of their schedule strictly for this event, and came on their own dime," Angelina said about the charity event which Pitt calls a "mini Grammys" show.

According to the website, the foundation aims to build "safe, sustainable and affordable homes for working families." The foundation wants to fund lower income housing in the Lower 9th Ward and is expected to complete 150 houses.
