Brad Pitt has surprised moviegoers at the advance screening of his film “World War Z” in Hoboken, New Jersey on Wednesday night. The A-list star showed up at the Clearview Cinemas to personally wish fans that they enjoy his latest film.

“Thank you all for coming out. I know it’s late, and we really appreciate it,” he told the elated crowd while giving away t-shirts. “Today we came out to show the film for the people we made it for – our fans!

“There’s no other place than Jersey!”

According to Just Jared, Brad entered the theatre around 10:45pm just before the movie started.

“Brad wanted to make sure that the screening was for the fans, the people that he made the film for,” a source told the celebrity Web site.

“The crowd went wild when he showed up and he had t-shirts to hand out to his fans. He made sure to give New Jersey a big shout out before the movie started!”

With rumours that the post-apocalyptic film set to become the most expensive flop of the year, Brad’s surprise appearance at the theatre should push people to go see the film themselves, in hopes of seeing Angelina Jolie’s man in person.

“World War Z” opens in cinemas next month.

Meanwhile, if you happen to have met the 49-year-old actor a year or just even a week ago, don’t expect him to recognise you even if you spent time having a “real conversation” with him. Nothing personal, though. He simply doesn’t recognise faces.

“So many people hate me because they think I’m disrespecting them,” he told Esquire magazine. “I took one year where I just said, ‘This year, I’m just going to cop to it and say to people, ‘Okay, where did we meet?’ But it just got worse. People were more offended.

“...You get this thing like, ‘You’re being egotistical. You’re being conceited.’ But it’s a mystery to me, man. I can’t grasp a face, and yet I come from such a design/aesthetic point of view. I am going to get it tested.”

What he might have is called prosopagnosia or more commonly known as face blindness. It is the inability of people to recognise faces or expressions, and be experienced in a wide range of degrees.

It is not known if Brad truly suffers from face blindness, but failure to recognise faces is one of the symptoms of the condition.
