People's 2011 Sexiest Man Alive Bradley Cooper thinks fellow actor Ryan Gosling deserves the controversial title.

People Magazine named Cooper as this year's Sexiest Man Alive in its November issue and quickly received some backlash from a disgruntled Gosling fanbase.

More than a dozen fans braved the rain to protest outside People's main office in New York City. The protests took shape in the web, with an entire Facebook page dedicated to the cause.

"We are devastated. [Gosling's] left arm alone makes him the Sexiest Man Alive," Buzzfeed's Matt Stopera tells People.

People's executive editor defends the publication's decision to name Cooper the sexiest. "Bradley Cooper is the whole package. He's gorgeous, talented, brainy, loves his mom, can cook up a storm and speaks fluent French! Who can argue with that?"

Well apparently, Cooper himself is on Gosling's corner.

Cooper appeared as a guest on the "Graham Norton Show" in London, and he candidly discusses how un-sexy he feels compared to the widely celebrated Gosling. He recalls looking at pictures of the "Notebook" star, who he calls "the greatest."

"It was of him walking around, and he literally looks like he's in a photo shoot, like he just came of the runway," Cooper says, complimenting his "The Place Beyond the Pines" co-star.

"And there's ones of me, and I literally look like the neighbor that never comes out of his house and when he does it makes you go, like, 'Maybe he should just stay in.' So it's interesting," he adds.

The "Hangover" breakout actor is in the height of his career, with a slew of movies coming out next year. With a thriving career and a busy dating life, Cooper hardly has time to worry about who's sexier than who.

"I'm finally at an age - I'm 36 years old - where I finally don't care about anything like that anymore, which is a wonderful thing. And then this happened, and I started to realize how not sexy I am," he explains.
