Bravo's 'Girlfriends' Guide To Divorce' Episode 2: Lisa Edelstein's Abby McCarthy Recovers Post Public Breakdown

The second episode of "Girlfriends' Guide To Divorce" airs this Tuesday, Dec. 9, on Bravo. Lisa Edelstein plays the central character, Abby McCarthy. In this week's new episode, Abby manages to rescue her brand after a public breakdown.
Abby McCarthy is a self-help book author whose marriage has just fallen apart. She gets how-to pointers from her friends Phoebe (Beau Garrett) and Lyla (Janeane Garofalo). Ex-husband Jake is portrayed by Paul Adelstein. The first episode of "Girlfriends' Guide To Divorce" is titled, "Rule 23: Never Lie to the Kids."
"Love is a universal theme, and this is what this show's about, love and friendship. And divorce happens to men and women," Adelstein ("Prison Break," "Private Practice") told BuddyTV, explaining why the new series caters to both men and women. The actor is also set to write GG2D episodes.
"The show is really about relationships, so it's just as valid no matter where you're at in the world of relationships," Edelstein told Bustle.com. Edelstein ("House, MD") is going on the Rachael Ray Show Tuesday to talk about GG2D Episode 2.
"Girlfriends' Guide To Divorce" has drawn mixed reviews since its debut on Dec. 2. On RottenTomatoes, the new series got a rating of 81% from the critics and 70% from the audience. Glamour Magazine likes it, based on this Twitter shout-out. IMDB currently displays a rating of 7.1 out of 10.
"Abby tries to recover from a public breakdown, thereby rescuing her brand. Meanwhile, Abby and Jake try to make the best of their divorce for the sake of the children, and Lyla's former husband seeks revenge for his DUI," reads the episode synopsis of GG2D Episode 2 on TV.com.

"Girlfriends' Guide To Divorce" is based on Vicki Iovine's "Girlfriends' Guides" series, developed for television by Marti Noxon (former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" producer). The series airs Tuesdays on Bravo.
