'Breakfast at Tiffany's' director Blake Edwards dies
Breakfast at Tiffany's director Blake Edwards died at the age of 88 due to complications of pneumonia.
Blake Edwards proved to be a versatile director. From his usual comedies, he surprised his detractors when he directed the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany's, starring Audrey Hepburn in the iconic role of Holly Golightly. The film received several nominations from the Academy Awards. He followed this with the drama Days of Wine and Roses in 1962 which again received several nominations from the Academy Awards.
Blake Edwards is perhaps best known for his Pink Panther films, where he collaborted with Peter Sellers for five films of the six. Edwards and Sellers even collaborated in the 1968 comedy The Party. However, Edwards failed to mention his long-time collaborator Sellers in his acceptance speech when he accepted his Honorary Academy Award in 2004.
Edwards is married to Oscar-winning actress Julie Andrews, who appeared in many of his films including Victor/Victoria. They have five children.
