"My writers and I discussed our ending for many months, maybe even years, and everything was on the table. The happiest of happy endings, the saddest of sad endings, the open ending; we discussed every possibility. All we cared about, though, was that it be satisfying, and in a sense satisfaction operates independently from ideas of happy and sad, it's removed from emotion," said Vince Gilligan in an interview with Metro.

"I can tell you for sure it is an ending though, we have not taken the Sopranos route [which infamously cut to black] here; it's a very exciting ride and these last eight episodes certainly do not go out with a whimper," added Gilligan as reported by Metro.

The show is slated to end on Sept. 29, though rumours suggest that a spin-off show is in the pipeline.
