‘Breaking Dawn Part 2' Leads 2012 Movies; Part 1 on DVD and Blu-ray on February
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" is heralded as the most anticipated movie of 2012.
It is the 2012 and we can expect a lot of new flicks that will bring out the film buff in all of us. For Twilight fans, this is the saddest year as the last film of the movie adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's young adult vampire romance will come to an end.
The film topped the unofficial count in the MTV Movie Brawl 2012 along with other anticipated films such as the young adult action adventure "The Hunger Games" and the third Batman film, "The Dark Knight Rises."
"Breaking Dawn" is expected to render a grand finale for Twihards. "The Hunger Games" are living to the expectations of many of its fans, especially those who have read the book, making it trail close behind the vampires and werewolves.
However, director Christopher Nolan's latest creation is not making much buzz and drive for a film with ravenous fans. The Batman movie secured the sixth place so far, which is disappointing for many of the fans.
Other films also proved to be top contenders in the Movie Brawl such as the films "John Carter" and "Dark Shadows." The former will hit the theaters in March and the latter in May. These films were considered as the underdog in the competition, which turned out to be their greatest advantage.
However, "Snow White and the Huntsman" has been playing like a savvy vet, given that the film is led by Kristen Stewart. Veteran leadership, especially from "Twilight" stars, is going to prove a key factor as the Brawl moves forward.
"Breaking Dawn - Part 1" will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray on February 11. The first part of the film narrates the marriage of Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella's (Kristen Stewart), honeymoon, and subsequent baby-making, will come with some extensive special features. Coverage will include a 6-part "Making of" documentary. A "Wedding video" segment will also be included, as well as "fast forward" featurettes of some of Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and Edward's best scenes. Additionally, commentary from Director Bill Condon will round out the special features.
Thus, there will be enough time for the fans to review the first part before viewing the final film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's best-selling series is scheduled to open in theaters on November 16, 2012.
There were questions as why not release the film on summer and not wait for a year. Summit Entertainment made no official comment on this issue that made a lot of critics speculate that the probable reason is the already-crowded summer 2012 movie calendar, which has been padded with several other highly anticipated and established franchise films.
"The Avengers," "Madagascar 3" and "Men in Black 3" all open in May; June will deliver a "Star Trek" sequel; the re-booted "Spider-Man" is nestled in the July 4 slot (occupied this year by "Eclipse"), followed closely by another "Ice Age" and a third "Batman."
