Breast implants lead to better sex life among women, according to a University of Florida research. Additionally, breast augmentation apparently improves self-esteem as well.

The clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida College of Nursing, Dr Cynthia Figueroa-Haas, was responsible for advertising for volunteers to perform the research. Eighty-four women were asked to complete questionnaire on sexuality and self-esteem before breast implant surgery and after the same as well.

Even though the participating women did not exactly have poor sex life and low self-esteem before the surgery, the quality of both the aspects improved after they had augmented breasts. Ms Figueroa-Haas informed WebMD that the level of sexuality and self-esteem among those women increased after they had larger breasts.

Ms Figueroa-Haas rubbishes the idea that women behave frivolously when they want to improve their natural body image. According to her, it is critically important to have an improved body image for a woman to have higher self-esteem. She does not agree with people who urge the women to stay however they are.

After the women got implants, they experienced every aspect of sexuality even more intensely; according to Ms Figueroa-Haas' study. Women have reported that they felt stronger arousal, sexual urge, better lubrication and sexual satisfaction. Ms Figueroa-Haas, however, feels that the issue of improving women's sexuality is often left out. Men tend to talk about pills like Viagra to improve their sexuality whereas women shy away from talking about it even with other women. On the other hand, the fact is that women do not feel feminine enough if they have sexuality issues.

Although the study report shows positive effects of breast augmentation surgery, Ms Figueroa-Haas advises against considering the same as a means of solving more intimate psychological issues of a woman. She said that it would be unwise to visit a cosmetic surgeon to cure any issue that might be affecting a woman's mental health.

Experts have, on the contrary, severely refused to agree that breast implants have any psychological or sexual benefit.
