Brett Lee Becoming An Actor Soon With Upcoming Film 'Un-Indian' Opposite Tannishtha Chatterjee

Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee will soon be lighting up cinema screens the world over with his flashy smile. The actor is set to embark on a new chapter of his life by debuting as a lead actor in an India-based film. As reported by The Australian, the film is titled "Un-Indian" and has Tannishtha Chatterjee as the lead actress opposite Lee.

The 37-year-old bowler will star in the first ever film produced by Australia India Film Fund. The recently established private production company will soon release other movies to be filmed in Sydney and Melbourne, including "Truth," starring Cate Blanchett and Robert Redford, as well as Neil Armfield's "Holding The Man," with actors Guy Pierce and Anthony LaPaglia, among others.

As reported by the Daily Mail, "Un-Indian" will be directed by Anupam Sharma, who is deemed ideal for the job as he is an Australian of Indian origin and has a deep understanding of both cultures.The filming will start by end of October so that the movie can hit the theatres by March 2015. The movie will be a romantic-comedy based in India, in line with "Slumdog Millionaire." Lee's character is a happy-go-lucky guy who falls in love with a 30-something Indian mother played by Tannishtha Chatterjee.

A very athletic fielder, and one of the most useful lower order batsmen, Brett Lee is a celebrated bowler in the world of cricket. He retired from the Test matches in the beginning of 2010 and eventually dropped out from the international cricket scene in July 2012. He still continues to play in the IPL and Big Bash League.

Apart from his cricketing talent and accomplishments, Lee is also a musician, playing guitar in his band Six & Out and is considered a rock star in his hometown. He had earlier written the lyrics of the song "You Are the One for Me," which was recorded with legendary Indian singer Asha Bhonsle. The song was a hit, earning a no. 2 spot in the Indian music charts.

In response to speculations if he will be writing songs for "Un-Indian," Lee decided to keep mum. "We are keeping that bit under the wraps for the moment," he said.
