‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ actor Ed Sheeran refuses to follow Sir Elton John’s advice
Known for his songs “Thinking Out Loud” and “Photograph,” Ed Sheeran usually performs only with a guitar and no band accompanying onstage. Recently, the English singer and songwriter had his first stadium concert in Australia.
As usual, Sheeran did not perform with a band in his concert in Australia. He only used a guitar as he performed songs from his “+” and “x” albums, starting with “I’m a Mess” and “Lego House,” according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
Prior to this, Sir Elton John said it is time for Sheeran to hire a band. In an interview with The Sun, he said he wanted the “Thinking Out Loud” singer’s career to go the right way.
The “Can’t You Feel the Love Tonight” singer is friends with Sheeran, although they are yet to collaborate in a single. The former is known for giving Sheeran advice, particularly about music and his singing career.
During his recent concert in Australia, Sheeran sang “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder and “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers. Before performing the latter, he told the audience that it was going to be a long five minutes if they did not like it.
After “ I'm a Mess” and “Lego House,” Sheeran performed “Drunk,” “Take it Back,” “Only One,” “Photograph,” “Bloodstream,” “Tenerife Sea,” “Don't,” “I See Fire,” “Kiss Me,” “Thinking out Loud,” “The A Team,” “Encore” and “You Need Me, I Don't Need You.” The last song he performed was “Sing,” which was from his second studio album titled “x.”
Released on June 20, 2014, “x” has 12 tracks. After “x,” Sheeran has yet to announce the release date of his third studio album.
Meanwhile, Sheeran is set to star in the upcoming romantic comedy sequel “Bridget Jones’s Baby.” Set to be released on Sept. 16, 2016, the film stars Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, Patrick Dempsey, Jim Broadbent, Gemma Jones, Celia Imrie, James Callis, Daniel Stisen, Sally Phillips, Lasco Atkins and Shina Shihoko Nagai, among others.
