Australian fisherman John Macdonald has an unusual beer belly after drinking water from a beer can that he dropped in Brisbane River.

The 60-year-old has developed a mysterious growth on his stomach that he observed in May 2013. According to the Sunshine Coast Daily, Mr Macdonald was drinking beer when he was out fishing on the Brisbane River in Queensland, Australia. He accidentally dropped the beer can in the water.

He retrieved the can and resumed his drinking. After a few hours, Mr Macdonald said he became "violently ill" and one week after his trip to the river, he could neither eat nor drink.

He was then rushed to the hospital where doctors performed various surgeries to remove the mass protruding from his stomach. He was operated by doctors in a Caboolture hospital after prescribed antibiotics failed to do anything to his condition.

Mr Macdonald was then transferred to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where he had surgery for the third time. After his third operation, the doctors in Australia declared it was a success. However, Mr Macdonald was left with a larger stomach bulge that looked like hernia.

On May 8, Mr Macdonald was scheduled to have another surgery to remove the gut growth but the large mass grew again a short time later. After failing to permanently prevent the mass from coming back, doctors told him that they will not be able to operate on him for at least another year.

Mr Macdonald said the Brisbane River may be "more polluted than people think. He said it was a "stupid decision" to pick up the beer can from the water and now he has to live with the large mass in his belly.

According to reports, Mc Macdonald is looking for a doctor to finally get rid of his gut growth. He said he still wants to be "around" for his children and grandchildren.

He appealed through media to find doctors who can cure him. He is trying to cope with a large mass in his stomach. He said if "there's a bloody good doc out there" to help him get better, he would be glad if they could reach him.
