Brisbane Roar Targets Francesco Totti
Italian soccer star Francesco Totti is in the eye of Brisbane Roar. After Alessandro Del Piero's fantastic A-League for Sydney FC, the management of Roar is trying to tap Totti for their club.
Upon witnessing the elevation of Sydney FC after Del Piero joined in the year 2012, the vice-chairman of Brisbane Roar, Chris Fong is hopeful to sign Totti for their club in the next season.
In a new statement to Italian newspaper, Corriere dello Sport, Fong said: "It would be great for Brisbane Roar if we could sign a great champion like Totti, He is an incredible player and everybody knows him".
Del Piero is already a star in Australia, and moreover, the A-League is on the rise right after his joining.
Totti is currently under contract with AS Roma which will be over in June 2016.
Fong further added, "He is already a legend and he will be received like a king in Australia."
"I know what Totti means to Roma, but you never know what will happen in football."
Francesco Totti is one of the key players of Roma and an icon in Italy. He spent his entire career at Roma since 1992, and made 551 appearances with 232 goals in his credential. Totti also helped Roma win 2000-2001 Series A title and Coppa Italia for two consecutive years 2007 and 2008.
Totti also played 58 times for Italy and is best known when he knocked out Australia in the year 2006 after a controversial penalty kick.
Now it is up to see whether Totti accepts the offer. However, speculation is there since Pierro is already a part of Sydney FC, there may be chances for another Italian star to join the A-list. Moreover, the coming of Del Pierro in the Australian soccer has gained a new height and is expected, with the coming of Totti the scenario is likely to progress further.
