Six men and a woman are in police custody or are under house in Birmingham City on Monday on suspicion that they are plotting terror attacks in Britain.

The male suspects aged 25 to 32 were arrested at Moseley, Sparkbrook, Sparkhill, Ward End and Balsall Heath areas of Birmingham from Sunday night to early Monday, according to the West Midlands Police. The woman, 22, was also arrested at Saltley at 6:30 a.m. for violation of the Terrorism Act 2000 as she refused to disclose information sought by police.

Charges have yet to be filed."The operation is in its early stages so we are unable to go into detail at this time about the nature of the suspected offences," said West Midlands Police's Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale, according to Telegraph.

Other properties in Moseley and Sparkhill are being searched as part of a preemptive counter-terrorism action to ensure public safety. Under cover policemen and forensic experts are part of the raiding teams.

Meanwhile, police called on the public to report any suspicious person or activity by calling the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321.
