The 92-year-old British royal patriarch, Prince Philip was released from the London Clinic on Monday, 10 days following his exploratory abdominal surgery last June 7.

The prince was admitted to the private hospital a day before his surgery.

The Palace did not provide an explanation as to why the prince had to go under the knife. What the public only knows is that he had heart and bladder problems in the past.

Queen Elizabeth II's husband was "in good condition and good spirits" according to the Buckingham Palace.

The prince who celebrated his birthday last June 10 at the private hospital with his wife, son Charles and grandsons William and Harry will spend about two months recuperating at the Windsor Castle.

More than 1,000 cards from well-wishers were sent while he was at the hospital until days past his birthday.

He rode his vehicle unaided after shaking hands with the senior hospital staff at the doorstep, as reported by the ABC.

Prince Philip has "expressed his thanks and appreciation to medical staff at the London Clinic and the many members of the public who have sent good wishes," the palace said.
