'Britney Jean': Britney Spears' Latest Album Streams on iTunes, What Critics are Saying [VIDEO]
Britney Spears' eighth album, "Britney Jean," is now streaming on iTunes. The singer is expected to release the album officially on December 3 but her fans can have a preview of most of her new songs on iTunes and give their opinions. The 31-year-old singer earlier released two tracks "Work Bitch" and "Perfume" and they too are included in the streaming.
Rolling Stone magazine has given the latest album of Britney Spears three and a half stars and called it an effort which "out-bangs, out-booms, out-bizarres" her peers ( read Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry."
The album, which has contributions from artists like will.i.am., Sebastian Ingrosso, T.I., and Britney's sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, will be her eight one and a follow up to her last album "Femme Fatale." The singer has also called it her most "personal" album till date. Rolling Stone magazine calls "Britney Jean" a journey from her broken engagement to the loneliness in her life as a popstar.
"Like her excellent late-summer electro-sleaze hit, "Work Bitch," "Britney Jean" adds up the high price of stardom. It's a concept album about the loneliness of pop life - with a high-profile broken engagement behind her, Brit gets personal and drops her most bummed-out music ever," says the critics at the magazine.
"If you're a Britney fan, you might wish for more disco kicks - nothing here explodes like "How I Roll" or "I Wanna Go" or "3." And Will.i.am wears out his welcome fast after "Work Bitch,"" the critics add.
Other critics at The Telegraph are calling the album a "striptease of Britney's career. But behind each discarded veil there is just another veil, an insubstantial gauze masking teams of (presumably unphotogenic) producers, writers, stylists and sloganeers."
According to LA Times, the song "Don't Cry," is the tear-jerker of the album and comes "straight out of an '80s rock ballad, but its buck-up hand claps and smiling digital blips are far more prominent."
Other songs to look forward to are "Chillin' With You" a collaboration with her little sister where they remember the good times together. Hear it on iTunes and tell us your views.
