Britney Spears pledged to do a good deed in a tweet remembering September 11. The tweet came in support of a charitable institution dedicated to observing the date every year as a day to do good deeds.

The charitable organisation goes by the name of "9/11." The organisation pays tribute to the victims of the horrible incident. It also pays tribute to the people who provided their service in response to the incident.

A group of terrorists had hijacked planes that crashed into buildings on September 11, 2001. The twin towers of the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon buildings were targeted in the attacks.

The charitable organisation sees the September 11 day as a reminder for people to work more closely together "in peace to improve the world." Millions take part by helping others in need, according to their official Web site.

33 million people have said to have taken part in a day of charitable services. This was on the day marking the 10 year anniversary of the attack in the year 2011. The organisation hopes to build on those numbers in the coming years.

There were reports of an event to mark the September 11 day for the increased government scrutiny and snooping after the attacks. Members of the Muslim community particularly felt victimised.

A rally originally called the "Million Muslim March" was planned; the name was however later changed to "Million American March Against Fear."The change of name was reportedly done after some people complained. The rally was planned for September 11.

The event saw a handful of people turn up. Some media reports suggest 20 to 30 people turned up. Some people consider that such an event should not be held on such a solemn day as September 11.

A counter rally called "2 Million Bikers to DC" was organised on the September 11. The rally was for protestors to ride on a bike to Washigton DC. Although the rally did not appear to be two million strong, thousands of bikers joined the rally.

Celebrities are choosing the social media to raise awareness about social and political issues. Recently Madonna uploaded an image on her instagram account asking the U.S to stay out of Syria. (Click here to see the picture and read about the Instagram post by Madonna).
