Britney Spears slapped with $10-M lawsuit over fragrance deal
Britney and her father had reportedly ‘renegotiated a royalties deal with cosmetics company Elizabeth Arden’ last year.
"Femme Fatale" hitmaker Britney Spears and her father, Jamie have been slapped with a $10-M lawsuit over fragrance deal by a brand marketing company brokering for the singer’s fragrance line.
According to a report that first came out on RadarOnline.com,Brand Sense Partners has claimed that Britney and her father had wrongfully ‘renegotiated a royalties deal with cosmetics company Elizabeth Arden’ last year.
Still citing the report from RadarOnline.com, the UK Press Association (UKPA) noted that the deal the pair made with the cosmetics company had resulted in great loss on the Brand Sense Partners after being cut out of their 35%-commission on the fragrance line.
The lawsuit named in the court documents Britney’s latest perfume scent called Radiance as the one the singer and her father had inked with Arden cosmetics Company.
Brand Sense Partners argued in the lawsuit, according to Reuters, that the Spears’s latest deal ‘directly violates the original deal with the marketing company’.
Spears’ publicist, Jeff Raymond, has remained mum about the issue.
Court documents show that Brand Sense has been brokering for the Singer since 2003 and successfully provided her a perfume deal in 2004.
Brand Sense Partners according to Reuters is seeking $10-M and punitive damages for breach of contract. The marketing company is also asking the court to rule that it is entitled to a 35%-commission to all of Spears fragrance lines.
