Britney Spears' songs can actually help when a ship is in danger of being attacked by Somali pirates.

Little did anyone know that the princess of pop's songs are being used as a defense against Somali pirate attacks. It is known as one of the navy's secret weapons. In the East Coast of Africa, where most Somali pirate attacks occur most of the time, ships have been known to blast Britney Spears' songs to prevent said attacks.

The reason? The Somalian pirates find her music and anything of western culture offensive. The best songs that are used by the Navy that are of Britney Spears are her chart topping "Hit Me Baby (One More Time) and "Oops! I Did It Again".

As reported by Glamour Magazine, Britney's songs were chosen because it is the epitome of western civilization. Rachel Owens, second officer said:

"Her songs were chosen by the security team because they thought the pirates would hate them most. These guys can't stand Western culture or music, making Britney's hits perfect."

According to the report, the music is blasted out and is done in such a way that it does not affect the sailors on board. Owens also reiterated that following:

"It's so effective the ship's security rarely needs to resort to firing guns, As soon as the pirates get a blast of Britney, they move on as quickly as they can."

It seems like the princess of pop's music is more than just a top charting hit but also a great way to defend their ships against pirates. Music certainly has a way of being useful it seems in many ways.
