Simon Monjack, the widower of Brittany Murphy who unexpectedly died last year at age 32, was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Sunday. His death comes just five months after his wife's death. He was 39.

According to Associated Press, the preliminary cause of death of the British screenwriter is natural causes and police said that there are currently "no signs of foul play or any criminal activity involved."

Firefighters responded to an emergency call from a woman at 9.40 pm on Sunday where though resuscitation efforts were made, Monjack was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed that Murphy's mother Sharon, who had lived with the couple before Murphy's death and probably continued to do so after, was the one who contacted emergency personnel after finding Monjack unconscious in the bedroom.

The London-born Monjack apparently had a history of cardiac difficulties where it was reported that he suffers from seizures and had a heart attack after returning from Puerto Rico in November last year.

Monjack directed, produced and co-wrote a 201 film, 'Two Days, Nine Lives', and received story credit for the 2006 biopic 'Factory Girl' which centred on Andy Warhol's muse Edie Sedgwick. In 2007, he was slated to direct a novel adaptation about Sigmund Freud called 'The White Hotel' with Murphy in a leading role but the project never materialised.

His late wife, Murphy, died on December 20th after collapsing in their home while in the shower after exhibiting flu-like symptoms days before her eventual death. Initially, her death appeared to also be from natural causes but a coroner's report released a month later stated that the primary cause of death was pneumonia.
