Brittany Murphy's Father Slams Lifetime Biopic On Actress as 'Hideous' And 'Outrageous'
Brittany Murphy's father, Angelo Bertolotti, slammed the latest biopic made on the late actress as 'hideous' and 'outrageous'. He also claimed that none of the Murphy family members was ever contacted while the production of the movie was going on.
TV network Lifetime has produced a two-hour biopic titled 'The Brittany Murphy Story'. The movie covered many aspects of the star's life, as well as delved into the mysteries surrounding her death. The biopic is set to be released on September 6, 2014.
Bertolotti has pointed out numerous issues, which involved the subject and treatment of the film. According to him, the biopic cannot be called a 'true story' but a 'mockery' of the late star's life. He also hinted that no one involved in the movie attempted to conduct thorough research before its production. He expressed the same feelings in an interview with the Examiner, where he called the movie a 'trashy project'.
"The Brittany Murphy Story is an affront to everything my daughter was in real life," said the late star's father. "It's hideous, unauthorized and completely untrue," he added.
The aspect highlighting the absence of a father figure in Murphy's life in the movie is also questioned by Bertolotti. He claimed that he has always been a part of his daughter's life, as well as supported both the star and her mother in their endeavours.
He also raised some serious questions regarding the casting of the movie. He is quite furious at Amanda Fuller, who is playing the role of Brittany Murphy, claiming that the actress looks nothing like his daughter. Lifetime is currently under fire as it is also facing other criticism hurled at them by outraged fans and supporters of the actress. In fact, even TV Guide and Vulture are condemning the biopic for the poor choice of cast members and their distasteful looks.
Brittany Murphy was one of the most common faces, especially in the romantic-comedy genre of movies. The American actress, singer and voice artist died when she was only 32. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, she ruled the genre of romantic movies. Some of her outstanding entertaining work included 'Just Married', 'Drop Dead Gorgeous', 'Uptown Girls', 'Love and Other Disasters', 'Little Black Book' and '8 Mile'.
The actress was found dead in her home after an attack of pneumonia, which was further complicated by anemia and multiple medications. Within five months, the actress' husband was also found dead in the same house due to the same condition. This led to speculations on the mysterious death of the couple, which simultaneously occurred within short intervals. As claimed by the Examiner, an investigation of the exact cause of Murphy and her husband's untimely death is still going on.
