The Brooklyn Nets are coming off a recent success abroad after winning against the Atlanta Hawks in London. They hope to bring the same effort when they return home to New York and face off with the Knicks on Sunday night.

Both NY teams had an atrocious 2013 but turned a new leaf as the new year rolled. The Nets have won six of their last seven games, while the Knicks went 5-6 to start 2014. However, the Knicks returned to their losing ways recently and are on a three-game skid.

They can snap out of the funk by beating the Nets, which they beat on Dec 5 in Brooklyn via a 113-to-83 blowout. The Knicks had five players in double-figures in that game led by Carmelo Anthony, who had 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Iman Shumpert added 17 points and 6 rebounds, while Andrea Bargnani finished with 16 points and 3 blocked shots.

New York, not known for their defense at that point of the season, limited the Nets to just 39.7 per cent field goal shooting (29-of-73 FGs) and 25.0 per cent from behind the arc (4-of-16 FGs). The Knicks have contained opponents to just 91.0 PPG in six wins in 2014 but has given up 109.0 PPG in four losses.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn has also used their defense in their recent good run. They gave up 94.2 PPG in the last seven games—a slight improvement over the 100.9 PPG average they give up for the entire season.
