Bullock replaces Rankin as RBA assistant governor
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has appointed Michele Bullock as assistant governor (currency), one of six assistant governor positions in the central bank. The position became vacant following the appointment of Bob Rankin as Chief Representative in Europe.
The RBA said Ms Bullock will be responsible for the banknote issue function, including the distribution, quality and security of Australian banknotes, and the conduct of related research and analysis effective today.
Ms Bullock, who holds a Masters of Science (Economics) degree from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) degree from the University of New England, will also take up the Chair of Note Printing Australia Ltd.
She has over 25 years of central banking experience, and has held a number of senior management positions in the Reserve Bank in recent years.
Most recently she occupied the position of Adviser, Currency Group and, before that, she was Head of Payments Policy Department.
