Bully Victim, Dakoda-Lee Stainer, Survived Suicide But Died from Injuries
A bully victim, 16-year-old Dakoda-Lee Stainer, who has escaped the death of suicide two years ago, did not survive his injuries after being approached by a gang.
He is a high school student, who was raised in Toowoomba and moved to NSW last 2007. Tess Nelson, Dakoda-Lee's mother, said they have been supporting him as much as possible while being interviewed for the Toowoomba Chronicle last November.
He has been bullied at Kempsey School, which gave him so much emotional and mental pressure that lasted for months. The bullying prompted him to commit suicide, but fortunately he survived from attempting to kill himself.
He was discovered clinically dead for about 30 minutes due to the severe injuries. He suffered permanent damage on his windpipe and was fatally unwell due to brain damage.
He cannot speak nor walk. Dakoda-Lee consumed food through a tube that was inserted through his stomach. He died at the Caboolture Hospital on Valentine's Day this year.
Since the tragic incident that happened to Dakoda-Lee, his mother has been making campaigns to support her son, who had lost the opportunity to enjoy life. There was a group created on Facebook saying "See justice done for Dakoda-Lee Stainer."
She encouraged people, especially bully victims , to join and support the group to seek justice for her son. She is aiming to have criminal charges filed for people behind her son's death.
Bill Kelly, the victim's stepfather, has sued the NSW Department of Education and Communities for failing to carry out its responsibility of care, according to a report from News Limited.
The Annual National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence will be celebrated on March 16, 2012. Schools all over Australia will be participating in the event.
