The 13th season of "American Idol" ended with big-voiced rocker Caleb Johnson as the winner. His win according to National Post, came from the strength of his renditions of "Dream On," "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "As Long as You Love Me," during Tuesday's episode of "American Idol." Caleb is to receive a recording contract for being the champion.

Meanwhile, runner-up Jena Irene, who sang "Dog Days Are Over," "Can't Help Falling in Love" and "We Are One," could only thank God that the show is finally over. According to Hollywood Reporter, although she didn't win, the teenage pop singer from Farmington Hills Michigan was in good spirits.

"To come this far and to be so young, I am grateful," she said, adding that she wasn't surprised at all that Caleb won since he deserved it.

Jena Irene thought the show was amazing since she got to perform with her idols including Hayley Williams, and her duet with Caleb Johnson was also awesome. Irene admitted that although she's relieved that the show's over, she would eventually miss it, especially since she has learned a lot from "American Idol." For her, the show has taught her to not just be a good singer but also to be a good performer, to be good with the press, and to dress and speak well. For Irene, "American Idol" had helped her become a well-rounded person.

Jena Irene may not have won but she is getting a consolation prize, according to National Post. Ryan Seacrest said that Irene gets a date to her high school prom and he's no other than her "American Idol" competitor and winner Caleb Johnson. Her prom is set for May 28, and with too much on her plate right now, including her rehearsal for the "American Idol" summer tour on June 11, Irene made sure she had her prom date already covered. Caleb Johnson will be on her arm, according to Hollywood Reporter.

"Caleb is actually coming with me so I am bringing the American Idol as my date," Irene said and posted her excitement over the news to her Twitter account.
