That was what a California man who rented a DVD of Smurfs 2 from Redbox at a Walmart on Tuesday wanted to watch together with his kids.

However, what he got were images of women in bikinis. "And then it became more and more disturbing, with hardcore porn," Huffington Post quoted James Terry, a resident of Rocklin.

He called Redbox to complain and was given a $2 credit and 10 free movie rentals. Redbox explained the gaffe to a fraudulent disc that was altered by another individual. "This is an unfortunate incident and we are preparing a case to provide local law enforcement and will work with them to aggressively pursue prosecution," Redbox said in a statement.

Similar embarrassing incidents had been reported in media recently. In October, a University of Iowa teaching assistant erroneously send home-made porn as an attachment to emails sent to students who were expecting answers to a problem set.

In February, a guest-lecturer at a The Netherlands university caused embarrassment to himself when the webcam he set up to a broadcast class beamed the porn he was watching on his laptop, which he failed to realise was still connected to the projection screen.
