'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' Offers Double XP And Two New Playlists This Weekend
Levelling up in competitive multiplayer games can be quite a chore. The prospect even prompts some industrious gamers to come up with out-of-the box solutions to their levelling grinds. However, you won't have to resort to such desperate measures to level up your profile in the latest installment of "Call of Duty."
Sledgehammer Games has announced that "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" players will be able to earn twice the amount of experience points (XP) as they would otherwise in the game's multiplayer mode. The company has made the announcement through an official blog post, where it dubbed the event as Double XP Weekend.
Gamespot reports that the event begins on Jan. 23 at 9 AM PDT and ends Monday, Jan. 26 at 9 AM PDT. Double XP Weekend also introduces two new playlists: Hardcore Mosh Pit and Comeback 24/7. The event will be followed by the launch of the brand new Havoc DLC, which is currently exclusive only to Xbox. The Double XP event, however, is available across all platforms.
According to IGN, Sledgehammer Games describes the Hardcore Moshpit playlist as being inspired by the original Mosh Pit playlist. It takes more hardcore punishing approach by reducing health, limiting HUD info and enabling friendly fire. These tweaks are applied to multiplayer modes including Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed and Search and Destroy. The Comeback 24/7 playlist was cooked up using inputs garnered from user polls on social media. The map Comeback narrowly beat out Detroit with 19% of the votes on a Facebook poll. As the name suggests all game modes are played on the Comeback map. This includes Team Deathmatch, Uplink, Kill Confirmed and Domination modes.
"We held a poll on our Facebook page last week, and after a week of voting, the map 'Comeback' narrowly beat out 'Detroit' with 19% of the votes. In this Community Playlist, you'll find '24/7 Comeback,'" said the developer over the official blog.
The Double XP Weekend is a great means to soup up your rep in "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" critically acclaimed multiplayer component. The opportunity to enhance the multiplayer rep comes as a respite after the developer Sledgehammer Games clamped down heavily on "Advanced Warfare" players who employed underhanded tactics to enhance their multiplayer experience.
