Armed with new weapons, the Dallas Mavericks (9-5) are off to their best start in ten years. On Monday night, they’ll take on the Denver Nuggets (6-6), which recently snapped the Mavs’ four-game winning streak.

Denver beat Dallas last Saturday but not before tense moments for the Nuggets, who blew a 17-point lead late in the final quarter.

The Mavericks actually took the lead 100-98 with over a minute to go but Randy Foye hit a three-pointer to give the Nuggets the lead and the 102-100 victory.

Dirk Nowitzki, who finished with 27 points and 9 rebounds and Monta Ellis, who had 25 points and 6 rebounds had multiple chances to tie or take the lead for Dallas but missed their shots inside the final minute. Vince Carter added 16 points for the Mavs.

Ty Lawson had 20 points and 9 assists, Kenneth Faried had 18 points and 14 rebounds and Foye ended up with 17 points for the Nuggets, who notched their fifth straight victory at home.

Denver is not as successful on the road however as they are only 1-4 away from home this season. They face a tough task in Dallas, where the Mavericks are a perfect 7-0 to start the regular season.
