Canadian Tennis Star Eugenie Bouchard has achieved a personal milestone as she reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon. This was the third Grand Slam semi-finals in 2014 for Bouchard. She beat Angelique Kerber of Germany 6-3, 6-4 in the quarter finals on June 2.

Previously, when Bouchard was at Wimbledon in 2013, she was eliminated in the third round. But her performance has grown significantly ever since as she reached the semi-finals of the French Open and the Australian Open earlier this year.

Currently, her performance at the All-England Club proves once again that she is one of the most promising young players to watch out for. She is the only woman to reach the semi-finals at all three Grand Slams in 2014.

Things looked quite difficult for the Montreal girl when she started the tournament. She ended up in the same side of the draw with Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova, which meant that she was likely to face those two to proceed further. But fortune had other plans as both Williams and Sharapova had already been eliminated. Bouchard would have played against Williams in the "Round of 16" and Sharapova in the quarter-finals if they won their individual matches.

Bouchard will face 22-year-old Simona Halep of Romania in the semi-finals, who earlier defeated Sabine Lisicki. The no. 3-seeded player earlier lost to Sharapova in the French Open finals. Both Bouchard and Halep will try to reach the finals at Wimbledon to take one more step toward winning the first Grand Slam title.

If Bouchard manages to beat Halep, she will face either no. 23 Lucie Safarova or no. 6-seeded Petra Kvitova in the finals.

Bouchard is likely to be ranked among the top 10 women players in the world after she finishes the tournament. She will be the highest-ranked Canadian singles player ever.

Bouchard-Halep Head-to-Head

These two young players have played only once against each other. It was in March 2014 in the Round of 16 at Indian Wells. Halep won that match 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.
