Cancellation buzz: ABC dramas - ‘Castle’ and ‘Nashville’ may be taken off air
The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) has been lighting up our living rooms with some of its cult classic shows since years but now there is a sad update on the biggest dramas from the house of ABC. The buzz is rife that the channel’s most prevalent shows, “Nashville” and “Castle” may be taken off air in the distant future.
The network’s president Paul Lee appeared to be quite dubious about the future of these prime shows, as he addressed the 2016 Winter TCA Press Tour on Sunday. While, he dismissed the probability of bringing the curtains down on “Nashville” in the near future, Lee also emphasized on the fact that the final decision about the show’s future will be taken in May.
For now, the avid followers of the American musical drama television series "Nashville" can heave a sigh of relieve as the latest update about the show will make them grin. Actress Hayden Panettiere is set to make a comeback on the show soon. Panettiere took a brief break from the show in October to undergo treatment for postpartum depression. The actress was reportedly back to the set of the show on Friday to shoot for “Nashville” Season 4’s 14th episode, according to TV Line.
On the other hand, ABC’s crime drama television series, “Castle” too appears to have an uncertain future as far as the cast and storyline is considered.
"We'd love for Castle to keep going for many years to come. There are a lot of conversations about how we can do that...there's lots of good ideas in there. So I am feeling optimistic that we have a lot of good ideas," E! News quoted Lee as saying. In addition to this, the network is currently amidst the contract negotiations with the key actors of “Castle,” Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic. It is quite possible that one of the two stars may not appear on the show if it is carried forward.
While, “Nashville”- which is currently in its fourth season - has failed to rake in over the top ratings, “Castle” Season 8 has witnessed a decent viewership.
