Cannes 2013: Leonardo DiCaprio Too Hot, Billionaire Paid $1.5M for a Seat Next to Him on a Space Flight [PHOTOS]
Great Gatsby actor, Leonardo DiCaprio has proven he is one hot Hollywood actor of his generation when an unnamed guest paid a staggering 1.5 million for a seat next to him in a space flight in 2014.
At a charity auction held at Hotel Du Pac-Eden Roc in Cannes, an unnamed guest did not mind spending millions and could not be happier to travel into the orbit on Virgin Galactic spaceship as long as the seat was next to the 38-year- old actor.
The auction was organized by a nonprofit organization called AmFAR, as one of its research initiatives on AIDS. The event, also attended by DiCaprio, was also part of AmFAR’s 20th annual Cinema Against AIDS. According to the LA Times, the ultra expensive space flight also included another unnamed bidder who paid for $1.8 million euros ($2.3 million).
Owned by Richard Branson of the Virgin Group, the Virgin Galactic is a commercial spaceflight company which caters to the rich and those who can afford a seat for a travel in space - - which costs millions of dollars. To date, the company has already accepted 580 individuals to travel to space with an estimated more than $70 million in deposits. Anyone interested to travel with Leonardo and with $200,000 as initial payment can still book million-dollar space flights.
