Contrary to earlier reports, Twilight lovers, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are not going to the 66th Cannes Film Festival. And the recent photos of the lovers snapped separately could tell that indeed they are ditching the most high-profile event in the film industry, that every actor and actress would die to be invited in.

As to why they are not coming? Fairly simple. The couple has no film project to promote this year. The couple’s attendance at this year’s Cannes Festival has received an overwhelming hype in the last week. Robert’s fanpages gave hints of him going to the festival to promote his upcoming film, Maps to the Stars. This was picked up by various news outlets, notwithstanding the fact that Robert has yet to begin production for his upcoming film by David Cronenberg.

“Robert’s going to be in Cannes on promotional duties and is taking Kristen along," a source was earlier quoted as saying by The Sun, according to Entertainmentwise.com.

The couple was reportedly in to a lot of adventure as they hit the City of Love.

The source added, "They have their eye on doing a tour of the local museums, like the Picasso one in Antibes, and Renoir’s house,’ adding, “But they’re also going to go down to Provence and visit the vineyards there. You can camp in the grounds of these massive chateaus and they’ve decided they need some ‘normal living’.”

The news of the couple hitting the red carpet in Cannes could be attributed however, to the unwritten wishes of their millions of Tween fans who have terribly missed seeing them on the red carpet.

The couple’s solid fanbase wanted to see them together at the recently concluded MET Gala 2013, held at the Metropolitan Museum of the Arts on May 6. But Robert was nowhere to be seen, leaving Kristen alone at the red carpet in red pantsuit by Stella McCartney.

There were reports of the couple’s having endless fights (real or not), highly intensified when Rob was spotted partying with Katy Perry at the Daughters’ concert just days before the MET Galan 2013. But this was debunked when they were reunited in PHOTOS leaving their cozy lunch at an upmarket cafeteria at the Big Apple before heading to JFK airport and flew in to L.A.

They looked happy and jolly though not loved-up as they were at the 2013 Coachella Music Festival. But they were a picture of lovers in love - - until the recent photos showing Kristen looking sad as Robert being brought home drunk.

They were not pictured together celebrating Rob’s 27th birthday on May 13, 2013 - - a big change to how the Robsten Romance was described when Kristen celebrated her own birthday on April 9, 2013.
