One of the world's leading imaging brand, Canon, announced firmware upgrades for three ground-breaking Cinema EOS System cameras - EOS C500, EOS C300, and EOS C100.

Canon formally announced the firmware update developments for three of its Cinema EOS System cameras and a selection of new functions of its Cinema RAW Development Software or CRD.

The EOS C500, EOS C300, and EOS C100 will now have support for the new Magnify function to allow users to check focus in different parts of an image, on the camera LCD and at the centre as well. The feature enhances control and flexibility during capture.

EOS C500 will gain new features with CRD software, playback support development, and export of 4K Canon Cinema RAW clips.

The EOS C300 will upgrade to support more additions designed to assist independent videographers. The Push Auto Iris and One Shot AF will further provide versatility on small-crew shoots, quick and easy way to adjust exposure and focus before recording. It will also gain support with 1440 x 1080 HD video recording at 35Mbps.

The EOS C100 will now have Continuous AF when used with Canon's EF-S 18-135mmf/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens.

The overall updates for all these EOS cameras will add support for the Academy Colour Encoding Specification or ACES which provides Input Device Transform Function to allow output of Canon Cinema RAW files on ACES-complaint OpenEXR file format.

A new function will also allow to specify in/out points before developing or copying their RAW footage, streamlining workflow both on-set and during post-production. Canon expects the release of the firmware updates for EOS C500, EOS C300, EOS C100, and CRD software on late 2013.
