‘Captain America 3’: Red Skull Returns, Greater Villains Added
Brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, co-directors of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," reportedly hinted of Red Skull's return in "Captain America 3" during an interview.
In an interview with Screenrant, the brothers talked about the new characters that will be added to the third movie franchise.
When Robert Redford was revealed to be a villain character in "Captain America: Winter Soldier" fans thought he would play as the modern day version of the Red Skull. Last time viewers saw the character was in "Captain America: The First Avenger."
When asked whether the villain would make a comeback in the third movie installment, Anthony Russo declined to reveal specific details. However, he may have reportedly hinted of its possibility when he claimed that anything is possible with the Marvel universe.
"All these characters exist," he said.
"There's very inventive, creative ways to make characters relevant again and surprising ways to make the characters relevant again," he added.
However, the brothers assured "Captain America" fans that they plan on making "Captain America 3" much more exciting and different from "The Winter Soldier."
In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, Joe Russo confirmed "Captain America 3" will be more "challenging."
"That's what we're in the middle of on Cap 3 right now, pushing really hard to make sure that what we deliver is something that's gonna be different from Captain America: The Winter Soldier," he said.
Furthermore, new bigger villain characters will be added. As Anthony said, a hero can really only be defined when paired up against his nemesis. This concept would eventually bring in a greater villain to "Captain America 3" and fans would likely also witness a more powerful Steve Rogers.
There have also been speculations whether Chris Evans would reprise his role as Captain America.
As previously mentioned by International Business Times, the brothers hinted that some characters will eventually have their closure in "Captain America 3" since new ones will be introduced. This reportedly brought fans to wonder if Chris Evans would be returning, with some claiming that he may only be appearing as a cameo. Or the actor would no longer appear as Captain America but just as Steve Rogers.
However, Anthony and Joe Russo assured fans that "Captain America" will continue moving towards the modern age, with "The Winter Soldier" marked as only the beginning.
