'Captain Marvel' pictures: Return of Kree, Ronan and a young Fury

First look pictures of the upcoming movie “Captain Marvel” have been released online. The pictures tease the return of alien characters of Kree, the villain Ronan (Lee Pace), and a much younger looking Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

The fans will get to meet an elite military team composed of Kree aliens in the next film. One of the first look pictures of the upcoming film posted on EntertainmentWeekly, teases team Starforce on the Kree planet Hala. This team has been described as SEAL Team Six of space.

The members of the Starforce team includes Korath (Djimon Hounsou). Marvel fans may remember the character from the first “Guardians of the Galaxy” film. The protagonist of the film Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) is also a member of this elite team. The other member is Minn-Erva (Gemma Chan).

Walter Lawson (Jude Law) is the commander of Starforce. An important aspect of this character is that he considers Carol to be a mentee and a “pet project.” He recognises the enormous powers Captain Marvel has and his job is to make sure she learns how to control them. In order to control her powers, Carol will have to learn to control her emotions, which should help her to use her powers wisely.

The film introduces a new alien species to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Comics fans will be familiar with Skrulls, the dangerous alien species that has the ability to shape shift. The leader of this race is Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), who will infiltrate the secret Earth organisation known as S.H.I.E.L.D.

Ronan the Accuser will be back. In the film he will be seen as a high ranking member of Kree.

Nick Fury and Coulson (Clark Gregg) will be back. The two characters will be younger looking, a look that has been achieved using computer graphics.
