Carrie Underwood has married Mike Fisher, a hockey star who plays for the Ottawa Senators.

The wedding rites took place at a luxury resort Saturday before 250 friends and family. Classical music and the couple's favorite Bible readings were featured in the ceremony.

The couple's wedding planner described the nuptials "a spiritual expression of their love".

"We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!" the newlyweds said in a statement to People magazine.

The American Idol alumna wore a Chantilly lace dress by Monique Lhuillier, who also designed the bridesmaids' dresses.

The couple were engaged in December after quietly dating for about a year.
Carrie recently disclosed that she wants to be a hockey wife.

"I'm one lucky lady in many aspects of my life," she said earlier this year.
"The more I go to games, the more people are used to seeing me around and hopefully I'll just be one of the wives."
